Sensitive renovation and extension of a timber framed Sussex 'Colt House'
Our active clients purchased this Sussex 'Colt House', a timber-framed gem, as their forever home. Perched in an elevated position, it offers breathtaking views of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), just a short ten-minute drive from East Grinstead, Sussex.
The house designs have prioritised the view and maximising natural light in the living spaces, while carefully preserving the existing structure and character. The flat ceiling in the main living space will be removed, replaced with a vaulted design, creating a harmonious cooking, eating, living, and entertaining space. Expansive areas of glass will frame the stunning vista.
We will upgrade the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to meet modern standards. Additionally, the project will enhance the building's fabric to minimise energy costs, incorporating external solar shading to prevent overheating.
Externally, the house will feature extensive decking areas for various physical exercise programmes. The garden will be terraced down the hill, incorporating retained trees and native landscaping, creating private seating areas that blend seamlessly with the surroundings.
