Richmond Home Renovation & Extension

A full renovation and extension of a large semi-detached home in Sheen.

This Richmond semi had all the charm of a classic period home, but the layout simply wasn’t working. The kitchen was small and enclosed, the rooms felt disconnected, and earlier extensions had created a patchwork of spaces rather than a coherent family home. Upstairs, the bathroom layout was awkward, storage was limited, and the loft carried untapped potential.

The brief was to create a warm, modern home that supported family life — light-filled, open, and generous, but still calm and comfortable.

A substantial rear extension now forms the new heart of the home: a spacious open-plan kitchen, living and dining area with wide garden views and a soft, natural palette. Large rooflights draw daylight deep into the plan, while the kitchen island and living zone create a space that feels social and relaxed without losing definition.

The old garage has been converted into a snug, giving the family a quieter retreat away from the main living space — somewhere to read, watch films, or simply switch off.

On the first floor, we reconfigured the plan to create an additional bedroom and reposition the family bathroom so it works far better day to day. The top floor was completely transformed, with a full loft conversion forming a generous master suite, complete with walk-in wardrobe and ensuite.

The rear elevation, previously cluttered and visually unbalanced, is now unified with clean lines, large-format glazing and a refined material palette — bringing a sense of order and elegance where there was none.

What began as a dated, compartmentalised house is now a bright, calm, beautifully flowing home that genuinely supports modern family life.
