Sussex Timber-Framed House Renovation

In Sussex, our clients purchased a timber-framed ‘Colt House’ as their forever home, drawn to its elevated position and panoramic views over the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Their goal was to modernise the house for open, light-filled living while protecting its unique character and connection to the landscape.

We vaulted the main living space, created a flowing open-plan kitchen, dining, and entertaining area, and installed expansive glazing to frame the views. Energy-efficient systems, external solar shading, and upgraded insulation improve comfort and reduce running costs, while extensive decking and terraced gardens provide spaces for outdoor living and exercise.

Every intervention was designed to blend with the existing timber structure and surrounding landscape, using native planting and retained trees to anchor the home in its setting. From concept design and planning approval to on-site supervision, we guided the project at every stage.
